these were from the original avantasia/narnia projects. things didn't go too well!

Avantasia is off to a terrible start.
All of the starter Norns have been killed by Grendels already, except
for Kendal, the pre-grown male. The Grendels have made themselves
at home in the Norn Terrarium. This one sure sleeps a lot, I
don't think it's woken up for hours, but it isn't dead.
Bloodsong needs to learn machinery
better. I thought this would be easy! I used to be so good
at Chipwits, too. But I can't even get this fish-spawner system
going properly. According to the Shee's spotty instructions, the
fish detector ought to be set at the minimum population level for the
fish in the ID screen, and if the population falls below that, it
pulses a signal of 255. Well, I've got it hooked to a numeric
display, and when the opal cucumber level is set to 5, the machine
outputs 9. If I plug that through to the egg dispenser, it starts
popping out 9 opal cucumber eggs! ::sigh:: The instructions
say the fish egg spawner should work properly to keep the aquazone
populated, if and when it is hooked properly to the population
monitor. Naturally, they don't say WHAT the proper connection is!

Things are going better now that I have the
SLUDGE GUN! I have terminated the invading Grendels, and created
some new generation one females of each species. I have managed a
simple machine that fires the sludge gun whenever Grendels or Ettins
are near. It doesn't aim, it doesn't range, it doesn't take into
account any Norns in the line of fire, but it works. I had this
aimed at the hallway door in the Norn Terrarium. Naturally, the
Grendels and Ettins didn't use THAT door.
But I have discovered the nest of the
Grendel Mother! Now the sludge gun is encamped next to the nest
exit, and the Grendel eggs hatch between it and the pirinha trap, which
is a Grendel-sniffer hooked to the bridge button. (Also enhanced
with a Norn scent emitter.) I feel bad setting up such traps for
the little Grendels, but my Norns are completely unequipped to handle
them at all. Kendal even said he LIKES Grendels! If I had
more energy for the Ship, I could replicate more gun emplacements, and
keep the Grendels contained, perhaps, but.... no such luck.
Two Ettins have moved into the Norn Terrarium
and seem to have taken up permanent residence. One of them killed
my little Civet female, for which I was very angry. Still, they
seem to get along with the Norns, now. Perhaps if they were Pink
Poodle Ettins, they would make some lovely pets?! Maybe if I make
it rain more, they will go somewhere else. On the other hand,
while they're living there blissfully, they aren't stealing or
disconnecting any machines. (If they wander into the Jungle
Terrarium and steal my Grendel-Sniffer from the sludge gun, we're going
to be in trouble.)
The fish seem to have died out in the Norn
Terrarium pond. I will have to see about replacing them. At
least I found the Norn Terrarium seed dispenser.
I had Kendal and Biga help me with some of the
Ship's tools. The main machines have more efficiency, and the
gene-splicer is online, but I still don't have enough energy to
replicate my slugde-gun emplacement. Biga took a long trip
through the Jungle Terrarium and Bridge, and has developed a curiosity
about machines.
Kendal and Bira mated, and this Bruin female
has laid our first generation 2 egg! Perhaps Avantasia will get
off the ground after all. So to speak.
The next step is to dock Narnia II.
Technical Note:
1: You cannot create a Docking Station world and then dock it with a Creatures 3 world.
2: You cannot create a Creatures 3 world, and then create a Docking Station hooked into it.
3: You MUST create the DS/C3 world in Docking Station, both at the same time.
4: You MUST be connected to the internet to create
and use a new DS and/or DS/C3 world. (Fortunately, my old machine
still has an ethernet card!)
5: DS causes some changes in C3... such as not
having to get the Norns to push all the tools to upgrade your
machines. And having Ettins and Grendels as selectable. And
getting their birth/death announcements as well!
6: Importing your C3 creature into your new DS/C3
world causes them to be cloned, losing their name and history,
etc. Bah!
7: Also, leaving your Norns in your inventory while
transporting them to the norn terrarium can be fatal. Plus the
fact that since you imported them, their export information is
GONE! (I had to whip up a new C3 world to get a male starter norn
back. Gah.)

Very busy today. In Narnia, Aslan has fathered many
eggs. Chia even bore twin eggs! Keniro, Kendal and Bira's
son, has also fathered a few eggs on the Avantasia females. So
far, only one of each generation 3 has hatched (our population level is
a staggering 15!) Some of the Narnia females have migrated to
Avantasia, but so far no interbreeding has occurred.
I have managed to replace the Ettins with Pink Poodle
Ettins. They are very cute, and so far less apt to disassemble
machines.
I have been less successful with my other breeding
projects. My Aquanorns had to be put on ice (so to speak) due to
the high population in Avantasia (my computer is grinding,
here!). The Draconian Norns did not survive well in the
Norngarden. I was going to put them in the jungle terrarium, but
I thought the Norngarden would be safer. But apparently, there
are not enough critters (even with EasterTribbles) for them to eat, and
only poisonous stinger pests. The male died of starvation and the
female of poisoning.
I wanted to get more Norn breeds (Zebra, Fallow, perhaps
Astro and Hardman), but I don't know if my world can support them
all! I'm having enough trouble with Bengal, Golden Bengal, Bruin,
Civet, Chichi, Desert, and Emerald breeds. Not to mention the
Aquanorns and Draconians, who are now no longer there. Even the
Grendel Mother has stopped laying eggs.
OMG! Kendal was taking a nap near the desert
elevator and a flaming meteor shot out of the volcano far enough to
land RIGHT by his nose! Well, that woke him up! At least
he's not hurt. Yeesh!
Stardate 0412.16
Chacha keeps trying to nail Kendal with the volcano. He's lucky,
though! Punky, my pink poodle female was petting my
hand. Aww, how cute! I could grow to like Ettins...!
Bloodsong ponders: perhaps, as a true
experiment, Narnia and Avantasia ought to be kept separate for a
certain number of generations before intermixing is allowed.
Bloodsong needs to organize which Norn species will live where.
Perhaps the Narnian Norns should have the standard breeds, and the
other breeds should roam Avantasia. Especially since Bloodsong
just downloaded Gargoyle Norns and bought Hardmans, Astro, Zebra, and
Fallow Norns!!
Well, Aslan is certainly a strong breeder. Last I
saw him, he was alone in the Norngarden, but by now, he's
re-impregnated Dina and Emma, and twice he's bred with Birte, the
generation two mix. Bloodsong also needs to figure out a proper
mix of adults and eggs to maintain a viable population. It seems
I always end up with a ton too many eggs to hatch. Then I have
too many children and no adults, or all adults and no children... aigh!
Blast, two Norns have drowned in the flooded middle level
of the Aquarium. Now I've put together a pulse signal to the
lower elevator switch to try to keep it out of the middle floor.
So far, it seems to be keeping Punky out of the water.
I am amazed with C3 how long creatures can sit and... just
sit. First there was the Grendel that slept for half an hour, now
I have a Pink Poodle who's been sitting by a door for an hour or so,
and Civa, the not too bright Civet Norn, who has been sitting in the
bridge hall just... doing nothing. Chizuma's been sitting in the
Jungle Terrarium, looking at an elevator.
Hmm, there's a dragonfly that migrated from the Norn
Terrarium to the Jungle. This game is just too blasted
interesting!!!
