2nd Place Winner in BBay's image contest

Walking home from the grocery store, I was thinking about a cat and a kitten looking at a butterfly, but the cats were winged cats. Go figure.
Poser 4; Photoshop 4, Vue d'Esprit 3.0, Blade Pro
The cat is the Poser cat
The kitten is the cat shaped into a
kitten by me (and available at PoserWorld)
with some help from
Capsces Cat o'9Lives morphs
The MomCat's wings are by Virus and Hokusai (available at the
Props Guild)
The kitten's wings are from the Z-Bird (aka Poser Bird) by Zorbak
The butterfly is the Zygote Dragonfly,
disguised with some butterfly wings by
David, with a texture adapted by
one from Eyecatcher
Dandelion leaf texture by
SilverBranch
Some texture bits swiped from
Jackie's cat
textures and Michael Bedar's eagle texture.
Same ol' same ol' Just posed in Poser. The kitten has some modiefied geometries: bigger head, bigger paws, shorter legs and tail. Some 9Lives morphs were used to kittenify the head: to heighten the forehead, pug the nose, shorten the muzzle, that sort of thing. In addition, I finally got tired of the wall-eyed cat stare, so I used some magnets on the eyes to create morphs so the cat can look up, down, left and right (or cross-eyed, or even more wall-eyed, if you prefer). The morphs are in the kitten cr2; you can use Morph Manager to share them with your other cats.
The cat and kitten are using my Cat2, which uses a BigFace
Cat UV map. The calico and tux skins were painted new, pretty quick by me.
I used a swatch of a cat fur texture by Jackie as a pattern for the
base. Eyecatcher's butterfly textures are for Codeman's butterfly,
not these wings. But some judicious copying and pasting and Layer:
Free Transforming, and they fit the bill nicely.
I painted up a really quick texture for the Hokusai wings.
(Later, I overlaid these with one that had a texture swiped from the
eagle texture by Michael Bedar.)
Again, this is typical. A very large, flattened Vue terrain for the ground. It has a grass tile texture I made from a KPT photo. The trees are Vue maple trees, the foreground grass is Vue patches of grass. The dandelion is a Carex with SilverBranch's dandelion leaf texture on it. The dandelion flower is a couple of spheres on a stick (cylinder). The stem uses the reed stem material from the plants folder. The puff ball is a texture and transparency map I made using the 'Shop star-shaped brushes.
I rendered the scene, and saved the z-buffer and alpha channel, too. I was able to use the z-buffer to select the cat and kitten and butterfly independantly of each other and copy/paste them to new layers. Then liberal use of the fuzzy brushes to fluff up the cat and kitten. A bit of smearing was also applied to the wing feathers.
The butterfly was brightened and contrasted up, and sharpened. The background was Gaussian blurred, and the background ground darkened.
The dandelion puffballs were touched up with more airbrushed star-shapes in white and shadow gray.
I expanded the canvas and did who-knows-what with Blade Pro to it, and made it a kinda brown sorta... thing. The text is whatever font that is, with bright grass green, set to Colour Dodge (or Overlay).
